Gairloch Village nestles at the inner end of the loch, and the word Gairloch comes from the Scottish Gaelic for Short Loch.
Situated in Wester Ross the village is a thriving, welcoming community of around 600 permanent residents.
Dotted around the village are hotels, a nine hole golf course, an excellent museum in a converted cold war nuclear bunker, shops, restaurants, a community centre, fabulous beach and a pretty harbour…
Sadly there were lots of barrel jellyfish washed up on the beach
We walked across the beach and over the promontory to the harbour
The input from the community was evident with the trees and flowers along the quayside, and plenty of places to sit!
Although you can take on water here there is not much room for yachts of Zoonie’s size.
So we moored in a little place called Badachro and here is the sunset on our last night there!
